I was on my way to Midgar to confirm Vincent Valetine's death. He had supposedly died while fighting Omega; but his old friend Cid told me that he did not believe that Vincent would die that easily. Not only that, but I had also been told that there were sightings of a man matching Vincent's description in Midgar. I had never seen Vincent in person, but I had a picture of him in my mind. He was six feet tall, had long black hair, a claw gauntlet for a left arm, wore all black (except a red torn and tattered cape), and lastly; he carried a gun called "Cerberus." Anyway Red Thirteen (XIII), Kay-ishii, and I were nearing Midgar. Kay-ishii and Red, as I nicknamed him, were running beside one another and I was riding on Red's back. I then yelled "slow down you two!" as I jumped off Red's back and onto the ground between him and Kay-ishii. Both of them giant beasts compared to me. Red looked like a giant red saber-toothed cat. Kay-ishii was a giant white wolf with three tails, sharp pointed teeth, ice blue eyes, and three black dots under her left eye. I had brought Red along because he knew Vincent inside and out. Kay-ishii, although trapped in wolf form, could speak like any human being, but so could Red. She went everywhere I went, not only because we had been friends, but also because we had been partners all our life. Kay-ishii had once been human as well. Her current form was due to the fact that her DNA had mutated after she had gained the power to shape-shift. The last form she had taken on was a white wolf which transmuted into a triple tailed, vampire wolf. We had just begun to move when I saw a fountain of blood gush through the air and onto the ground. I looked around and saw no one, although I did hear Red and Kay-ishii growl at something. The next thing I knew, Kay-ishii was running after a blackish figure in the distance. I fell to the ground sensing and knowing that the figure Kay-ishii was chasing was far too dangerous for anyone to handle. "Red, go help Kay-ishii!" I quickly yelled before I could not see Kay-ishii chasing the creature in the distance. "W-what?!" he stuttered in my direction. "Go help Kay-ishii, make sure she stays alive!" "Oh, I'm supposed to leave you open to attacks in that condition of yours?!" he yelled at me again. "What condition?" I asked as I looked down. That was when I saw and felt the warm blood on my shirt. "H-how did this happen, and when?" I asked in shock. "The black figure did it; at least I'm pretty sure it did" Red said with a stern look on his face. "It carries an elongated sword, but carries it so silently that it catches it's victims off guard". With that in mind my thoughts again focused on Kay-ishii. I staggered to my feet, the wound now stinging and bleeding worse. The warm blood pouring down my side from the gaping wound in my side. I didn't know why I hadn't noticed it when it happened. My only guess was that it had been a quick and clean cut. With that in mind I looked to Red. "Let's go catch Kay-ishii before she does something rash," I said. "Jump on my back and hold on tight!" Red replied. I quickly jumped onto his back holding my lower stomach and then grabbing a patch of his mane. Doing both of these things was very difficult. Red; however tried to make this whole event go quickly and took off with lightning speed. We were getting closer and closer every second. Even though we had almost caught up to Kay-ishii as soon as he started running; she was already on a rampage behind the black figure. When Kay-ishii goes into a rampage it is very hard to stop her. She then has no sense of rationality, and everything is a target to her. When in this state it's almost like she's in a trance. Even being in a rage; she kept chasing the black figure until finally she had pounced. All of a sudden she had grown long sharp claws and teeth, which she then used. Worried, Red and I could only watch her riot. If we intervened now we would face the same fate. Kay-ishii was now using these new weapons to kill the black figure. She was clawing and chomping at the figure; all the while the blood flew here and there. When she was visibly exhausted I called to her, "KAY-ISHII!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. She finally looked, but when she did she had a demented look, along with blood flowing and gushing like a stream out of her mouth. I thought it was all over; that we would suffer the same. Red and I both were frozen where we were. Not wanting to move we decided that the best course was to exhaust her and possibly refocus her attention back to reality. Even though Red and I did not converse this plan to one another we knew what we were both thinking just by looking at each other. This was because of the long years we had spent together as partners. With this; I readied myself for Red to continue to run; only faster than before. Kay-ishii; in this state; could outrun all the latest motor and electrical vehicles. If she's determined to kill something, her speed and strength seems to increase tenfold. With Kay-ishii on our tails and the motion making the bleeding worse; my vision started to fade. It felt as though I was blacking out into unconsciousness. The last thing I heard before my vision failed me completely; was Red calling to me; with great concern in his voice. "How is she?" I heard a familiar voice ask. "Who can say? She was severely wounded and she lost a lot of blood; she may or may not make it until he gets back." A dark voice answered the one before. I recognized the first voice as Red, but could not recognize the other. I opened my eyes and went to move but stopped as my body was hit with sudden and immense pain. "You shouldn't be moving so fast. You'll make that wound bleed more." A blurry figure moved into view. Once my vision came back to me, I saw the figure in front of me. The figure was a man who matched the description of Vincent. He was leaning down beside me placing his hand on my shoulder as if telling me to lie back down. As I held my stomach more clenching it so hard that I realized it was bleeding again. The warm came back forming a pool of blood where I lay. Vincent saw this, and tore off a piece of his red tattered and torn cape. He then wrapped the cloth around the wound twice and tied it to help stop the bleeding. It stung worse than anything I'd ever felt. I screamed out in agony as the pain increased, and the warm blood almost ceased to stop from flowing down my side. "There. Now you just need to lie down and don't move. I might not be able to stop the bleeding but if you move again the bleeding will get worse once more." Vincent told me with a stern look in his eye. "You're probably right." I replied as I decided to lie down and lie still. The pain was immense but slowly went away and became bearable once I lay still. Once I had lied down I looked up and noticed I was in a cave. "Where are we? And where's Red and Kay-ishii?" I questioned not knowing where they were, and not wanting to move a muscle. "We're in a cave on the border of Midgar. And Kay-ishii and Red are out with Cloud to find the "so-called black figure" that attacked you". "Wait. When did Cloud get here? And how did I get here? And how come Kay-ishii isn't on a rampage anymore?" I asked knowing I was very much irritating him. "Cloud is the one who found you three; Red and Kay-ishii were wondering around looking for help because you had fallen off Red's back. Apparently the sound of your collapsing snapped Kay-ishii out of it." He said sounding just a little ticked off. "This is all I know, and all I was told by your friends." Just then I heard a noise outside the cave. I then heard a voice, Clouds' voice. "Vincent we have a major problem." He had yelled from outside the cave. He then ran into the cave along with Kay-ishii and Red behind him. Red ran to my side and Kay-ishii later on lied down beside me. "How are you feeling?" Red asked with concern. "Like hell" I replied with disdain in my voice. "Well I guess you're alright because you still have that attitude of yours." Red laughed. I began to laugh as well but the pain started up becoming unbearable so it ceased. Kay-ishii just looked off into the distance staring at Cloud. I wasn't able to lay my finger on it, but I felt Kay-ishii had a thing for Cloud.
